Sarah Belcher Botkins, 80, died Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Carilion Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.
She was born November 17, 1942, at Vulcan, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Lacy and Mary New Belcher.
Sarah was a member of Ark of Safety Church in Roderfield, West Virginia, for several years and loved going to church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandy Ross Gilliam of Tollesboro; one stepson, Howard (Jessie) Botkins of Tollesboro; two stepdaughters, Veronica (Steven) Breeze of Tollesboro and Debbie (Billy) Dummitt of Garrison; three brothers, Dave Belcher of North Carolina, Jordan (Barb) Belcher of Phelps, and Ance (Joy) Belcher of Varnery, West Virginia; one sister, Ninetta Chambers of Welch, West Virginia; two grandsons, Cody (Lekeisha) Moore and Jacob (Ashlee) Horsley; and five great-grandchildren, Mattux Moore, Emmy Moore, Case Moore, Mandy Winkle and Leo Farris. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 15 years, James W. Ross; her second husband of three years, James Botkins; one stepdaughter, Patty Madden; one brother, Thurman “Toby” Belcher; and two sisters, Wanda Faye Belcher and Ruby Faye Rife.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Brad Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Cody Moore, Jacob Horsley, Virgil “Pete” Green, Howard Botkins, Chris Casey, and Gary Slone.
Honorary pallbearers will be Boyd Horsley, Danny Blackburn, Dave Belcher, and Jordan Belcher.
