Second reading of ordinance addressing blighted properties delayed

Vanceburg City Council met in regular session Monday with a short agenda but failed to have a second reading of an ordinance that is intended to address blighted, abandoned, and deteriorated properties in the city limits.
A first reading of the proposed city law was held during the July 11 council meeting.
Council members discussed the matter at length at that time and suggested some changes to the proposed ordinance which was modeled after similar ordinances for cities in the Ashland area.

There’s a lot more to this story. It can be accessed by our digital and e-edition subscribers, and will appear in next week’s printed edition of The Herald. A PDF of the proposed ordinance may also be accessed below by our online subscribers.

Further access is available to digital and full access subscribers only.
