Sharrie Ellen Pierce, 66, of Vanceburg, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022, at her home after an extended illness.

She was born in Traverse City, Michigan, on July 2, 1956, a daughter of the late Virgil and Hazel Davis Pierce.

Sharrie was a homemaker and caretaker for her family. Taking care of her children and grandchildren was her sole purpose in life in which she loved doing. She was of the Christian faith.

Left to cherish Sharrie’s memories are her companion of 35 years, Charles Douglas Thompson; one daughter, Sonya (Paul) Sprouse of Vanceburg; one son, Dennis Wayne Howard and Laura Bachman of Vandalia, Ohio; one sister, Vanetta Mosley of Garrison; three brothers, George Pierce of Florida; John (Carla) Pierce of Quincy, and Nolan Pierce of Maysville; eight grandchildren, Aaron Howard, Dustin Sealock, Cody Howard, Courtney Howard, Brianna Howard, Heather Edington, Chris Sprouse, and Paul Sprouse; and 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher Sprouse, Wyatt Craig, Tucker Howard, Camden Howard, Karson Sprouse, Kainen Highfield, Bentley Sealock, Aubree Sealock, Braxton Lee Sealock, and Adley Sealock.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Edward (Eddie) James Howard in 2016; a great-granddaughter, Ainsley Jade Howard in 2022;  two sisters, Linda Vergne and Minnie Pierce; and a brother, Virgil Pierce Jr.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro, Joe Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Skidmore Cemetery at Garrison.

Visitation will be Friday, August 26, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
