Sidney Bloomfield

Sidney Warren Bloomfield, 78, of Quincy, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 8, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated educator. Sidney was a devoted member of Quincy Church of Christ, where his faith and commitment to serving others were guiding forces throughout his life.

He was born on September 9, 1946, a son of the late Walter “Bum” and Violet Bloomfield Brown. Sidney honorably served his country in both the Army National Guard and the United States Air Force, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to duty and patriotism. His service to the nation was a source of pride for his family and community.

Following his military career, Sidney found his calling as an educator at FMCTC teaching carpentry. This is where he inspired countless students with his knowledge and kindness. His dedication to his students and colleagues left an indelible mark on the community.

Outside the classroom, Sidney found joy in the great outdoors. A fisherman and hunter, he cherished the quiet moments spent by the water or in the woods and he loved sharing those moments with his family and friends. He loved to golf and spent many hours in his shop working on projects for his family and friends. His love of traveling took him to all 50 states and many countries. He also enjoyed many mission trips where he had the opportunity to help build schools and churches.

Sidney’s greatest pride and joy came from his family. As a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather, he poured his heart into his loved ones, always offering guidance, love, and support. He will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Brenda; two daughters, Melissa (Bill) Bryant of Lexington and Kara (Tony) Johnson of Vanceburg; two brothers, Wayne (Nancy) Bloomfield of Piketon, Ohio, and Dallas (Judy) Bloomfield of Milton, Florida; and six grandchildren, Warren (Katy) Bryant, Baesha Johnson, Madison (Josiah) Dongell, Taelyn Johnson, Hallie Bryant, and Willens Alcime. Many other friends and family members also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister; two brothers, Gary Bloomfield and William Bloomfield; and two infant brothers.
