Snuffy Smith

Steven Courtney “Snuffy” Smith, 69, of Vanceburg, passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday, January 25, 2024.

He was born at Portsmouth, Ohio, on April 21, 1954, a son of the late Steven and June Lee Truesdell Smith. Snuffy, as he was known by friends and family, was a World War II history enthusiast. He was a 1972 graduate of Lewis County High School, a first chair trumpet player for the LCHS Band.

Snuffy was a collector of sports memorabilia of all sorts, from baseball cards to ceramic bobble heads. He always supported his UK Wildcats basketball team, along with Ohio State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was always raising a garden and sharing the produce with friends and neighbors.

He enjoyed going to Portsmouth to play trivia with friends.

Surviving are several cousins and many friends.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Pastor Tom Cox Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in East Fork Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Gaydos Funeral Home.
