Arthur E. “Sonnie” Highfield, 88, of Taylor Mill Road, Maysville, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Fleming County Hospital.
He was born May 21, 1935, at Macon, Ohio, a son of the late Ralph and Ermalee Hornback Highfield.
Mr. Highfield was a farmer and landowner raising beef cattle and operating a dairy farm. He was a member of Concord Christian Church where his family have been members for five generations. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and restoring and collecting antique tractors and trucks. He also enjoyed attending antique machinery shows. He was a graduate of Tollesboro High School and was awarded the FFA Kentucky Farmer Award.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve Logan Highfield, whom he married June 9, 1956; one daughter, Libby Parker and her husband Randy of Maysville; two grandchildren, Amber and Eric; three great-grandchildren, Destiny and her husband Lucas, Gracie, and EJ; and a great-great-granddaughter, Ivy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Highfield and Richie Highfield.
Private family services will be conducted in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Bro. Willie Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Wedonia Cemetery.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
