Steven Larry Thurman, 72 , of Tollesboro, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, the same day of his mother’s birth.
He was born in Lewis County on May 13, 1952, a son of the late Herbert Elmo and Edith Butler Thurman.
He enjoyed visiting with neighbors, watching Westerns, fishing, and spending time with his grandbabies.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Hill Thurman; one daughter, Megan (Josh) Smedley of Olive Hill; five sisters, Pat (Glenn) Ginn and Debbie (Danny) Edington of Vanceburg, Pam Montieth, Cathy (Tom) Applegate, and Judy (Allen) Gray of Tollesboro; one brother, Charles “Butch” Thurman of Mason County; and three grandchildren, Savannah Smedley, Lincoln Smedley, and Logan Smedley. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro, with Bro. Tony Corns officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Tollesboro.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2025, and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Montieth, Ethan Montieth, Robbie Thoroughman, Rocky Thoroughman, Joey Thoroughman, and Tanner Applegate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Silva, Charlie “Bubby” Monteith, Freddie Thoroughman, and Marty Ruggles.
