The Lewis County Planning Commission is asking residents to take part in shaping the future of our community.
As part of the 2025 update to the Lewis County Comprehensive Plan, the Commission has launched a Community Survey to gather input from residents.
This survey provides an opportunity for Lewis Countians to share what matters most to them and their families.
Responses will help identify specific goals and priorities to be included in the updated plan, which will guide future decision-making for county development.

The comprehensive plan is a written document that evaluates the county’s current assets and needs and outlines goals and objectives to support growth and improvement.
Updated every five years, the plan serves as a road map for both County and City government as leaders work toward long-term development.
The 2025 update allows officials to evaluate progress, address challenges, and align the county’s direction with the voices of its residents.
The Community Survey invites input on a wide range of topics, including housing, neighborhood development, transportation, road conditions, business growth, natural resource protection, and the preservation of farmland and rural character.
The feedback collected will help shape a future vision for Lewis County as a place to live, work, and raise a family.
The survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete, and all responses are confidential.
Judge Executive George Sparks encourages every resident to take part. “This survey is one of the most important tools we have to understand what our people want for the future of Lewis County,” Sparks said. “Your participation will help guide our priorities for the next several years. I strongly urge everyone to take a few minutes and share your thoughts.”
The Lewis County Joint Planning Commission thanks all who have already participated and encourages every resident to share their voice.
The survey is available online and can be accessed at https://rb.gy/sbzxp4, or by accessing a printable PDF at https://lewiscountyherald.com/survey-2025 and below. Paper copies are also available at the Lewis County Judge Executive’s Office for those who prefer to complete the survey by hand. Paper copies should be returned to the Judge Executive’s Office in the courthouse.
Note: This survey is hosted and managed by the agency overseeing the county’s Comprehensive Plan update. The Lewis County Herald did not create the survey and is not responsible for its content, questions, or any errors it may contain. We are simply sharing the link as a public service because it is an important opportunity for citizens to provide input on the county’s future.
The deadline to complete the survey is December 31.
