Tolliver Bowman “TB” Applegate Jr., 91, of Tollesboro, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family.
TB was born in Lewis County on July 30, 1933, a son of the late Tolliver Bowman and Beulah Walker Applegate.
TB was a member of Happy Hollow Union Church for 61 years and loved attending services. He enjoyed visiting the nursing home, gardening, canning, cooking, and mowing his yard.
Survivors include a special niece and her husband, Debbie and Larry Doyle, who cared for him and whom he thought of as a daughter and son-in-law; five sisters, Delores Eulane Russell, Clara Maxine Cropper, Linda Carol Foxworthy, Bonnie Marie Fulton, and Bobbie Lynn (Chuck) Gutenson; two brothers, Winfred D. Applegate and Eugene (Sharon) Applegate; one granddaughter, Kayley McCain; and one great-granddaughter, Kinley McCain. Many other family members and friends also mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Grayson Applegate; one sister, Ruby Ann Breeze Whicker; and one brother, Franklin L. Applegate.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Happy Hollow Union Church at Tollesboro with Bro. Bryan Davis, Bro. Markus Hagen, and Bro. Mike Grayson officiating. Burial will follow in Happy Hollow Union Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home, 11918 KY 57 at Tollesboro, and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jared Breeze, Alfred Bernzott, Allen Breeze, Jeff Applegate, Mike Applegate, and Jason Cropper.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Brookbank, Paul Mellenkamp, John Gregory, Ronnie Zornes, Anthony Myers, Zach Monroe, Terry Moore, Doug Applegate, Brent Applegate, and Kenny Gerike.
