Teddy Gene Christy, 88, of Garrison, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023.
He was born January 25, 1935, in Lewis County, a son of the late Joe E. And Esta Marie Horsley Christy.
He attended school in Lewis County in his early years and later graduated at Morehead State University majoring in teaching.
After spending time teaching in both Lewis County and New Albany, Ohio, he worked many years as a purchasing agent at the FA Kohler Company, a building material wholesaler. He finished his career as a contractor in the Ohio Valley.
From his younger years right up until the end of his day, he pursued his true love, Bluegrass Music. He once won a contest with his band to play with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. He also played music with Tom T. Hall. Whether it was in his living room, in a bar, with a group of friends or in the band Loosely Strung, he was in his element.
Ted is survived by his son, Kelly Christy of Richmond; one brother, Gary (Dianne) Christy of Westerville, Ohio; and his long-time partner, Marcella Dale Green Nelson. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Bro. Brad Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery at Garrison.
