Tommy Potter Sr.

Tommy R. Potter Sr., 71, of Garrison, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born at Garrison on August 9, 1953, a son of the late William I. and Dorothy I. Rowley Potter.

Tommy worked as a welder for Ford Motor Company for 10 years and also worked in heating and air conditioning. He coached boys basketball in Garrison and was of the Jehovah’s Witness faith. He loved going to work and helping others in times of need.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Billie Patrick Potter of Garrison; a daughter, Chandra Darling of Garrison; a son, Tommy R. Potter Jr. (Amber Parker) of Garrison; two sisters, Loretta Potter of Florence and Alberta Orlandi of Dry Ridge; two brothers, Isaac Potter of Maysville and Joe Potter of Tollesboro; five grandchildren, Kanela Darling, Urian Darling, Coria Potter, Isabella Draper, and Avian Draper; and seven great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and friends also mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Potter and Norman Potter.

A memorial service will be at the convenience of the family.

Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg is caring for arrangements.
