Tracy Yvonne Applegate, 54, of Tollesboro, departed us Friday, July 11, 2025, at University of Louisville Jewish Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and strength.
She was born in Lewis County on November 8, 1970, a daughter of Gary Ronald Applegate of Tollesboro and Sue Hamilton Applegate of Maysville.
Tracy was the heart of our family, a guiding light who nurtured, supported and believed in us and inspired those around her. She loved her music, thrift shopping, traveling and reading books, but her children and grandchildren were her greatest joys and her love for them knew no limits. As a companion, she was loyal and loving, as a friend, always generous and dependable. Tracy was a loving mother, stepmother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend.
She brought warmth and encouragement into every room. Her compassion, wisdom and steady presence will be missed beyond words.
In addition to her parents, Tracy is survived by her companion of 33 years, Gordon Ruggles; two daughters, Andrea Lykins of Tollesboro and Alexis (Evan) Osborne of Garrison; three sons, Jonathan Ruggles, Dylan Ruggles, and Jace Ruggles of Tollesboro; one sister, Amanda Fugate of Fleming County; five brothers, Ronnie Applegate, Joey Applegate, Curtis Applegate, Jordan Applegate, and Gary Applegate of Tollesboro; three grandchildren, Gage Lykins, Londyn Lykins, and Harper Osborne; and countless others who were lucky to know her. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Applegate.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918 Ky 57 at Tollesboro, with Bro. Terry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Tollesboro.
