Val Harris Jr.

After a mighty fight with cancer, diabetes, and heart disease Val Brent Harris Jr., age 62, of Vanceburg, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, January 30, 2020, at his residence.

Val believed in the awesome power of God. He attended the Bivens Chapel Church where he and his wife, Jeanne were married. He was a member of Trace Fork Christian Holiness Church where he was saved and baptized in 1980. He enjoyed all his church families through Kentucky Christian Conference. He also worked for the Kentucky Department of Transportation for 20 years and enjoyed working on his Volkswagen Beetle.

Val leaves behind his wife, Jeanne; a son, Andrew Brent (Angela) Harris of Vanceburg; two grandchildren whom he adored, McKenna Renee and Brenton Chase Harris, both of Vanceburg; two brothers, Marlin Bo (Rhonda) Kegley and family of Garrison, and Michael Douglas Harris of Vanceburg; three sisters, Opal Conley and family from Maysville, Edye Massengill and family from Paducah, and Brenda (Tom) Kinney of Vanceburg, whom he loved all dearly. Also left to mourn his passing and celebrate his crossing to Heaven are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families, a host of cousins, double cousins like family, nieces, and nephews.

Val was preceded in death by his parents, Val A. and Lovene O. Harris; his stepmother, Inez (Kegley) Harris; one sister, Velma Zornes; and three nephews, David Conley, Jeffery Zornes and Phillip Zornes.

A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Bivens Chapel Church at Garrison with Rev. Ronnie Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery in Garrison.

Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Bivens Chapel Church, 4411 Kinney Road KY 1306) at Garrison.

Pallbearers will be Adonis Ginn, Greg Clark, Joe Dillow, Tommy Polley, Dale May, and Anthony Jefferson. Ed Harris, Rob Harris, John Harris, Wayne Wright, Terry Cooper, Adam Cooper and Jack Wright will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Garrison is caring for all arrangements.
