Venus J. Butler, 78, formerly of Bucyrus, Ohio, and most recently of Signature Health Care in Galion, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016, in Galion.
Venus was born October 19, 1937, at Head Of Grassy in Lewis County to the late William Leonard and Bessie (Bond) Dyer.
She was married February 13, 1962, to Norman R. Butler, who preceded her in death on October 17, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a son, Darrell Butler; three brothers, Ora Dyer, Otha Dyer, and McKinley Dyer; and two sisters, Nellie Bass, and Velva Zornes.
Venus was a homemaker and member of Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling and quilting.
Venus is survived by her children, Norma (Steven) Butler of Bucyrus; Boyd (Kay) Butler of Bucyrus, and Debra (Christopher) Gase of Galion; two stepsons, Wayne (Terri) Butler and Kenneth (Annette) Butler, both of Republic, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Ruby Thomas of Lewis County, Audrey Starlin of Bucyrus, Linda (John) Banks of Bucyrus, and Janet Hensley of Flatwoods.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Upper Tygart Freewill Baptist Church at Olive Hill. Burial will follow in Morgan Cemetery at Head of Grassy.
