Vernon Rister Jr., 68, of Grayson, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born at Greenup on June 21, 1956, a son of the late Vernon Rister Sr. and Anna Mary Fyffe Rister.
Vernon enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Rachel Rister of Grayson and Stephanie Cantrell of Huntington, West Virginia; four sisters, Ruth Ann (Lonzo) Horsley of Garrison, Barb (Wayne) Madden of Vanceburg, and Jeanie (Keith) Musser and Angie (Barry) Nolen of Black Oak; two brothers, Gary Potter of Black Oak and Billy (Jessie) Rister of Garrison; and four grandchildren. Many other family members, friends, and neighbors also survive who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Bessie Cassidy Rister; one sister, Virginia Rister; and two brothers, Ronnie Rister and John Rister.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Bro. Anthony Rister and Bro. Barry Nolen officiating. Burial will follow in Dummitt Cemetery on Dummitt Ridge.
