Violet Mae Erwin Osborne Stallard, 105, of South Shore, went home to be with the Lord Monday evening, March 18, 2024, at Portsmouth Health and Rehabilitation in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was born in Carter County on November 1, 1918, a daughter of the late Albert Troy and Cynthia Baker Erwin.
Violet was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church at Garrison. She and her first husband, Glen, along with their children, worked many years on their farm and owned and operated Kinney View Dairy Bar in Garrison.
Violet enjoyed making quilts, canning, cooking, sewing, and traveling to the Grand Ole Opry where her late husband, Bill Stallard (Billy Starr), who was a member, sang in the late 1940’s. She enjoyed looking forward to the Erwin Family Reunion each year. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren grow.
Violet is survived by a daughter, Esther Burton of Portsmouth, Ohio; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen Eugene and Kathy Osborne of Garrison; two grandsons, David Adams and Jamie Burton of Portsmouth, Ohio; one granddaughter, Cindy and Steve McCane of Sumter, South Carolina; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and an extraordinary and special great-grandson, Robert McGlone of Portsmouth, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Bruce Osborne, father of their three children; her second husband, James “Bill” Stallard; one son, Arnold Osborne; one granddaughter, Diane Adams; two great-grandsons, Jacob Tyler McCane and David Adams Jr.; five brothers, Walter Erwin, Sam Erwin, Troy Erwin, Lloyd Erwin, and Frank Erwin; and one sister, Ermel Parish.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison, with Sister Wilma Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery at Garrison.
Friends may visit after Noon Friday, March 22, 2024, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Garrison.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
