Wanda Doyle

Wanda Toller Doyle, 84 of Flemingsburg Kentucky, passed away Wednesday October 9, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Lewis County Ky on February 22, 1940, to the late Marvin & Icy Grayson Toller.

Wanda worked several jobs over her lifetime, but her favorites were the time she managed Sims Dairy Queen throughout the 70’s and assisting her late husband as caretakers of Fox Valley Campground for almost 15 years after they retired. Wanda loved people and she never met a stranger, she knew everyone at the campground and all their families, and everyone knew and loved her, she could be found most weekends riding around the campground on her golf cart stopping to talk to anyone she saw out and about at their campsite.

 Wanda was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a woman of great faith with a servant’s heart and loved doing for others, she started off every morning reading from her treasured Bible. Wanda had a green thumb, and it showed at her home and the campground, she always had beautiful flowers and loved sharing them with others. She always said she wanted to enjoy flowers while she was living and that she did until her health started declining. Wanda was a faithful member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church and served on various committees, helped with VBS and was always ready to help prepare dinners for other families when called upon. Wanda’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, her face always lit up when they arrived to spend time with her, and she cherished the memories they made on their trips together. Her favorite vacation destination was Pigeon Forge Tennessee, and the family took her often. 

Wanda married the love of her life James H. Doyle Jr on August 6, 1960, and they faithfully remained by each other’s sides until he passed in 2019. 

Wanda is survived by her children, Jayne (David) Watson, Ronald (Melody) Doyle and Donald (Jill) Doyle all of Flemingsburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren James Parker (Kaitlyn) Doyle, Ethan (Ashleigh) Doyle, Allie Doyle of Flemingsburg, Nathan (Jenna) Doyle of Lexington Kentucky and two great grandchildren, Garrett & Alayna Varney of Pikeville Kentucky. She is also leaving behind 5 siblings, Lena Gilbert, Paul Toller, Pauline Florence, Daisy Doyle and Russell Toller and an extended family of nieces, nephews and friends.

 In addition to her husband and parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her granddaughter Candace Watson Varney and great grandson Waylon Jacob Varney, sister Helen Swim, brothers, Omar, Elmer, Walter, Marvin, Jim, Ray, Wilmore, Winford Toller and 2 infants at birth.

Funeral services will be Conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the Flemingsburg Christian Church with Pastor Randy Fritz officiating.

 Wanda will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation at the Flemingsburg Christian Church is after 6:00 P.M. Friday.

 Pallbearers are, James Parker Doyle, Ethan Doyle, Nathan Doyle, Garrett Varney, Denny Gilbert & Jarrod Gilbert. 

 In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Flemingsburg Christian Church Memorial Fund or Hospice of Hope in memory of Wanda L. Doyle.

The Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Flemingsburg is caring for all arrangements for Wanda L. Doyle.
