Wayne Roy Clark, 75, of Garrison, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born October 17, 1940, at Tannery to the late Roy Ernest and Zora Elizabeth Bloomfield Clark.
Wayne was a retired iron worker, welder, farmer, pilot, neighbor, and friend. He was honored in 2015 as Garrison’s Hometown Hero by the local community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Ralph Clark.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Joan Collins Clark, whom he married on March 27, 1958; two sons, Dane Russell (Liz Lafferty) Clark of West Union, Ohio, and David Wayne (Debbie) Clark of Morehead; six grandchildren, Beth Ann Clark (Jeremy) Ruckel, Tyler Wayne (Alyssa) Clark, Alexandria Elaine Clark, Joshua David (Grace) Clark, Taylor Alyse Clark (Jonathon) Meckstroth, and Jordon Douglas Clark; five great-grandchildren, Hallee Ruckel, Raegan Ruckel, Myla Clark, Grant Clark and Clark Meckstroth; two sisters, Christine Arnold and Wilma (Roger) Erwin; one brother, Dwight (Ann) Clark; and special family, Karen Bond Clark (Danny Palmer).
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Bivens Chapel Church, 4411 Kinney Road at Garrison with Rev. Norman Potter and Rev. Wilma Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in Waring Cemetery at Garrison.
Friends may visit between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Friday and from Noon until the service hour Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will include Paul Applegate, Anthony Utterback, Don Carver, Steve Arnold, John Erwin, and Zack Highley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Fannin, Bill George, Kenny Applegate, Leonard Glenn, Clarence Moore, Dale Bentley, John Collins, Bob Wills, and all Wayne’s friends at Garrison Short Stop.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope In Memory of Wayne Clark, 909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY 41056, or American Cancer Research Institute, 1759 R St. NW, Washington, DC 20009.
