William Edward Johnson, 88, of Batavia, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood, Ohio.
William was born in Lewis County on February 28, 1933, a son of the late Anderson and Lula Bell Heater Johnson.
He was of the Christian faith, a fully disabled US Army veteran of the Korean War, having served as a radio operator. William enjoyed collecting coins and baseball cards, traveling, telling stories, horse racing, cooking, country music, and spending time with his family.
William is survived by two sons, William (Caryl) Johnson of Withamsville, Ohio, and Wayne (Brenda) Johnson of Aurora, Indiana; three daughters, Sandy Sterling of Independence, Tracie Rolsen of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dreama (Luke) Cosgrove of Mason, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A host of other family members and friends also survive who will sadly mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Delores Fetters Johnson; one daughter, Debbie Lewis; one granddaughter, Tiffany Johnson; two brothers, Norman Johnson and James Johnson; and three sisters, Maxine Crouse, Betty Lamons, and Virginia Johnson.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Charlie Heater Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Monte Lewis Stamm VFW Post 5438.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers..
