Willie Wills

Willie Ray Wills, 91, of Vanceburg, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville following a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 11, 1932, in Lewis County, the youngest son of Robert and Hila Truesdell Wills.

Willie was a Christian, an active member and elder for over 30 years at Aills Christian Church. He was a loving husband and father, lifelong farmer and had cared for his cattle until the very end. He loved being at home on his farm, with his cattle and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Betty Polley Wills; two daughters, Beverly (Russell) Iery of Quicks Run and Dr. Donna (Douglas) Elkins of Campbellsville; and one grandson, Michael Iery. Many other family members and friends also survive who will sadly miss him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Wills and Michael Wills; four sisters, Rosie Ramsey, Lucille Grigson, Opal McClurg, and Bessie Bayless; and two brothers, Alfred Wills and Laurence Wills.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Tom Cox Jr. and Bro. Kevin Duff officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.

Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2023, and after 9:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Dickerson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Russell Iery, Myron Iery, Michael Iery, Randy Irey, Douglas Elkins, and Mitch Goodwin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Aills Christian Church and Hospice of Hope.
