Wilma D. McKee Shifflett, 95, of Vanceburg, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Hospice of Hope at Kenton Pointe in Maysville.
Wilma was born at Charters October 27, 1929, a daughter of the late Hubert and Ida Stevenson McKee. She was a cook for Denny’s and Sambo’s restaurants in Florida and had worked in the deli at Ron’s IGA in Vanceburg. Wilma give piano lessons and loved planting her flowers and tending to them. She was a member of Heselton Baptist Church. Wilma loved children, especially taking care of her niece and nephew Katie Martin and Zack McKee, whom she helped raise.
Left to cherish Wilma’s memories are her nieces, Katie (Connor) Martin of Cincinnati, Ohio, Shirley Fite of Tollesboro, Patty (Justin) Jackson of Avon, Indiana, Sarah (James) Laborde of Danville, Indiana, Linda (Harvey) Maddix, Bridgett Jennings, and Brandi Zornes of Vanceburg, and Jessica (Luke) Morehead, of Morehead; her nephews, Zack (Anna) McKee of Maysville, and Rob (Cindy) McKee, and Greg McKee of Vanceburg. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive who will mourn her passing.
IN addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, JoAnn Fite and Ethel Riggs, and three brothers, Eugene McKee, Kenneth McKee, and Douglas McKee.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday April 27, 2025, at Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak with Dr. Howard Wilson officiating.
