Wilson Eugene “Willie” Hampton, 90, of Tollesboro, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
Willie was born June 13, 1931, in Lewis County, a son of the late Bert and Irene Kilgore Hampton.
He was a retired mechanic and maintenance engineer for Ramada Inn, and had served as a minister and deacon for Hickory Grove Christian Holiness Church. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. Willie enjoyed fishing, hunting, building and repairing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Willie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Irene Whalen Hampton; four sons, Nelson (Misty) Hampton of Leesburg, Florida, Kenneth (Tracy) Hampton of Richmond, Andrew (Debbie) Hampton of Maysville, and Keith Hampton of Tollesboro; one daughter, Rebecca (Lee) True of Tollesboro; three grandchildren, Darron, Nicholas and Mason; and two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Nicholas Jr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Hampton.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Hickory Grove Christian Holiness Church with Bro. David Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Tollesboro Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021, and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Hickory Grove Christian Holiness Church.
Family members will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee True and Riley Robersion.
Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services will be caring for all arrangements.
