Lewis County residents are encouraged to take part in a countywide clean-up event happening this week, offering a great opportunity to dispose of unwanted items at no cost and help keep our community clean.
“This is a great opportunity to not only declutter but also to contribute to the health and appearance of our county,” said Lewis County Judge Executive George Sparks. “We appreciate the participation of our residents in helping to keep Lewis County beautiful.”
The event is open to Lewis County residents only. A valid ID will be required to verify residency.
The clean-up will allow residents to drop off items at the Lewis County Solid Waste Facility, located at 199 County Drive, just off Clarksburg Road west of Vanceburg.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to Noon.
Residents are reminded that all loads must be properly tarped or tied down to avoid spillage.
The facility will accept residential debris, scrap metal, appliances, and up to 12 tires per household.
Items NOT accepted include:
• Commercial debris
• Shingles
• Drywall
• Bricks or concrete blocks
• Wet paint
• Food garbage
• Daily household trash
• Vegetation (brush, tree limbs, wood)
A flyer with complete details on accepted materials and restrictions may be found on Page 8.
For more information, residents may contact Roger Lewis at the Lewis County Solid Waste Office at 606-796-0624.
“Let’s work together to keep Lewis County beautiful,” Sparks said.
