Ronald Joe “Ron” Mason, 85, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 3, 1941, in Mason County, a son of the late Alvin Roscoe and Christine Strode Mason.
Ron spent many years as a truck driver, traveling across the country and becoming known over the CB radio by his handle, “Coyote.” He also had a passion for Mustangs and enjoyed taking his cars to car shows and spending time with others who shared his love of automobiles.
Survivors include seven children, Sandra Mason, Robbie (Teresa) Mason, Rhonda (Dave) Wilson, Rod (Sonda) Mason, Ross (Kathy) Mason, Jay (Katie) Mason, and Cody (Traci) Mason; a sister, Patty Friend; 19 grandchildren, Tyler Shrout, Sabrah Shrout Pfeffer, Savanna Pratt, Sawyer Mason, Brandon Mason, Bobbi Mason, Tabitha Wilson, Ryan Mason, Cameron Mason, Koltan Mason, Josh Mason, Austin Mason, Matthew Mason, Jaden Arrasmith, Xavier Mason, Gunnar Mason, Richard Mason, Emma Mason, and Cooper Mason; and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, June Carol Adams Mason; a brother, Alvin Roscoe Mason Jr.; and a sister, Evelyn Johnson.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home, 150 West Water Street at Flemingsburg. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Shrout, Ryan Mason, Cameron Mason, Koltan Mason, Jaden Arrasmith, Xavier Mason, Gunnar Mason, Richard Mason, and Sawyer Sutherland Moon Mason.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cooper Mason, Emma Mason, and Brandon Mason.
