Doug Fannin

Douglas “Doug” Eugene Fannin, 74, of Richmond, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Hospice Compassionate Care Center.

Doug was born June 3, 1952, in Grayson, a son of the late Leotis and Barbara Evans Fannin.

Doug proudly served his country in the United States Army before building a career as a chef, bringing skill, care, and heart to the kitchen throughout his working life. A devoted Christian, Doug lived his faith openly, and he was known for his deep love of animals and his kindness to everyone he met. He loved working on the farm and found lasting peace in nature. Those who knew him will remember a man devoted to his family and unwavering in his love for them.

Survivors include two sons, Evan Fannin (Barbara Reynolds) and Seth Fannin (Katisha Henderson); one grandson, Colton Alexander Lee Fannin; three aunts, Gladys Hayes, Goldie Wallace, and Anne Gregory; and an uncle, Walter Evans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Faye Kibbey Fannin, in 2021; a brother, David Fannin; and an uncle, Bob Evans.

A memorial service was Saturday, August 15, at Vanceburg Christian Church.

Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home in Richmond cared for arrangements.
