Doris W. May, 97, of Vanceburg, died Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Vanceburg Hills Nursing Home.
Born December 21, 1928, in South Shore, she was a daughter of the late Ross Caleb and Daisy Cadwallader May.
She was a lifetime member of Martin Church of Christ at Quicks Run, where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. She worked as a loan officer and cashier for State National Bank, Citizens Deposit Bank, and First Safety Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Georgetown, Ohio, where she retired. She also served as a foster grandparent and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include two sisters, Ruth May of Vanceburg and Lena O’Cull of Maysville; one brother, Julius Ray (Gail) May of Fleming County; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Oleta Keller, and three brothers, Don W. May, Roscoe May, and Louis Wade May.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Martin Church of Christ at Quicks Run with Bro. Rodney Mineer officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg.
Pallbearers will be Howard Martin O’Cull, Kevin O’Cull, George Ross O’Cull, Bradley Dale May, and Eldon May.
