James David “Jim” Riffe, 63, of Tollesboro, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville.
He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on December 31, 1962, a son of the late Forrest “Jack” and Mary Bloomfield Riffe.
He enjoyed fishing, digging roots, watching Westerns, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two daughters, Kayla (Alex) Smith of Vanceburg and Brittany (John) James of Maysville; a son, Jacob (Cherokee) Riffe of Tollesboro; two sisters, Lois Zornes of Garrison and Betty Riffe of Liberty Center, Ohio; two brothers, Garry Riffe of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Johnny Riffe of Swanton, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Darlene Cooper, Curtlynn James, and Gladys James. Many other family members and friends will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Dorman Riffe; a sister, Deloris Clark; and six brothers, William Riffe, Floyd Riffe, Alexander Riffe, Robert Riffe, Jackie Riffe, and Jerry Riffe.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
