Lynda Jo Frye Thayer, 80, of Garrison, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on February 3, 1946, a daughter of the late Julius and Romana Trout Frye.
Lynda enjoyed cooking, going to the casino, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren,
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Jane (Charles) Blake and Allison Lee Thayer of Garrison; two sons, Chester Elbert (Wanda) Thayer III and Sherman Dean (Lisa) Thayer of Garrison; two brothers, George Glenn (Sue) Frye of Montana and Rodney (Bernadine) Frye of Vanceburg; a half-brother, Jim Jones of Hillsboro, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Many other family members and friends will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Allen Thayer, and a half-sister, LeAnn Jones.
Friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2026, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue at Garrison.
