Rachel Sizemore

Rachel Lorraine Sizemore, 73, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Rachel was born January 1, 1953, in Lewis County, a daughter of the late John Edward and Edna Lorean Webster Smith.

Rachel devoted 28 years to Lewis County Middle School, where she worked as a paraeducator. She was a Christian and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed babysitting, fishing, reading, taking walks, and viewing the fall foliage during her favorite season.

Rachel is survived by one daughter, Melissa (David) Hardy of Vanceburg; two sons, Jeffrey (Eddie Toncel) Sizemore of Columbus, Ohio, and Chad (Mandy) Sizemore of Vanceburg; one sister, Jacquelin Griffitt of Vanceburg; and five grandchildren, Alexis (Danny), Dylan, Ethan (Jenna), Austin, and Jaxon. Many other family members and friends will mourn her passing.

Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Orville Sizemore Jr., whom she married in Vanceburg on October 16, 1971; five sisters, Dolores Johnson, Gladys Blankenship, Patricia Thompson, Linda Covington, and Loretta Smith; and two brothers, Donald Smith and Willard (Joe) Smith.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Gaydos Funeral Home, 159 Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Wes Cooper officiating. Entombment will be in Lewis County Memory Gardens at Black Oak.

Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, and after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Gaydos Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Sizemore, Dylan Hardy, Austin Hardy, Jaxon Sizemore, Kade Walters, and Danny McGowan.
