Robert Hay

Robert Arthur Hay, 62, of Sanders, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in Beckley, West Virginia.

He was born June 5, 1964, in Ashland. His passing leaves deep sorrow in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Above all, Rob was a devoted Christian whose faith in God was the foundation of his life. He was a man of God first and foremost, and his faith shaped who he was and how he lived.

Rob, as many knew him, was always smiling, and that warm spirit made him loved by everyone. He built a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and a genuine love for people. He served on the Garrison Fire Department, a role that reflected his willingness to help others and be part of something larger than himself. He also drove a big rig, work he took pride in and truly loved. Whether on the road or among family and friends, Rob made lasting connections everywhere he went.

Outside of work, Rob found joy in the things he loved most. He loved hunting, riding motorcycles, and driving his big rig. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He embraced these interests fully, and they shaped many of the memories shared by those closest to him.

His family was at the center of Rob’s life.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Fields-Hay; his mother, Okradda Shaffer (Edward Czuprunkski); and his stepmother, Brenda Hays.

Rob’s love continues through his daughters and their families: Lindsay Snodgrass (Chris), Ashley Wells (Jarrod), Melissa Cappadona (Anthony), and Amy Hosier (Brent).

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kaden Hays, Callie Snodgrass, Maddox Wells, Tyler Lovell (Tamara), Tristan Lovell (Tessa), Reese Lovell, Veronica Settles (Logan), Isabelle Hartley (David), and Sydney Hosier; and great-grandchildren: Dustin Lovell, Hayden Settles, Soren Cody, and Ellie Settles.

Rob is further survived by his uncle, Charles Lamm (Anne); his sisters, Jessica McClanahan (Jerry), Melissa Longmire (Michael), and Robin Barela (Michael); his brother, Darren Hays; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly; and Crystal and Rick Yockey, who were part of his extended family.

The love he shared with those around him created a wide circle of friendship and family who will continue to remember him with affection.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Hays; his stepfather, Oral Shaffer; his grandparents, Robert and Eula Lamm and Arthur and Goldie Hay; and his granddaughter, Adaline Wells.

Service information will be updated on completion of arrangements.

Robert Arthur Hay will be remembered for his unwavering Christian faith, his smile, his hardworking nature, his love of family, and the kindness he shared so freely with others. His memory will remain a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family takes comfort in the faith that guided his life and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. He will be missed by everyone, but especially his family.

Newcomer Funeral Home in Erlanger is caring for arrangements.
