Voter registration deadline is Monday

Lewis County residents who want to vote in the November General Election have until 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, to register to vote or update their voter registration.

Lewis County Clerk Leslie Collier is reminding residents of the approaching deadline as preparations continue for the November 3 General Election.

“The last day to register to vote is Monday, October 5th at 4:00 p.m.,” Collier said. She also reminded younger residents that they may register now if they will reach voting age by Election Day. “As long as you turn 18 on or before November 3rd, you can go ahead and register to vote and vote in this election.”

Voters may register online, update their registration information, or check their current registration through the state’s GoVoteKY system. The appropriate county clerk reviews and approves online registration applications.

Collier is also reminding voters who qualify to vote by mail that they may request absentee ballots through October 20. The state’s online absentee ballot portal opened September 19, and the deadline to submit an online request is 11:59 p.m. October 20.

Kentucky’s excused in-person absentee voting will be October 21-23 and October 26-28. No-excuse early voting will be October 29-31, followed by Election Day on Tuesday, November 3.

Lewis County voters with questions about registration or absentee voting may contact the Lewis County Clerk’s office at 606-796-3062.
