Emogene Tackett Masters, 82, of Vanceburg, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was born January 24, 1938, in Letcher County, a daughter of the late Earl and Cladie Taylor Tackett.
Emogene was a member of Garrison First Baptist Church and had owned and operated Masters Furniture. She was a homemaker and a caretaker for many years. She enjoyed shopping for antique glassware, raising a garden and spending time with her grandchildren.
Emogene is survived by one daughter-in-law, Lana Masters of Russell; two sons-in-law, Russell Watson of Vanceburg, and Steve Gallant of Bucyrus, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Elmer Tackett of Aurora, Colorado, Earl Tackett Jr. of Conyers, Georgia, Charles Tackett and James Tackett, both of North Middletown; and three sisters, Ester Zornes of Olive Hill, Loretta Williams of Jeffersonville, and Wanda McKinney of Vanceburg. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Virgil Masters; one son, Virgil “Bub” Masters; two daughters, Jean Watson and Linda Sue Gallant; one grandson, Jason Gallant; one brother, John Tackett; and twin sisters, Pauline Stone and Geraldine Tackett.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Wes Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Esham Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg.
Emogene’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
