Edwin Dwight Rouse, 84, of Vanceburg, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio, after a long illness. His wife and daughter were at his side.
Dwight was born on January 20, 1942, a son of the late Paul Justin and Lillian Thurman Rouse. He was a member of Heselton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Sandra Tolle Rouse, one daughter, Denise (Brian) Reed of Minford, Ohio; a son, Kelly Rouse; a stepson, John Applegate of Vanceburg; one sister, Ruth Brewer of Vanceburg; his grandchildren, Brianna Rouse, Payton Blankenbeckley, Madison Reed, Julia Applegate, Abagail Fairchild, James Applegate, Addison Applegate, and Chase Reed; two sisters-in-law, Janice Burriss of Vanceburg and Norma Hackworth of Tollesboro; and a brother-in-law Donald Evans of Bucyrus, Ohio. Many other family members and friends will also sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Rouse and Chester Rouse; a sister-in-law, Linda Evans; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Brewer, Bill Hackworth, and Dallas Burriss.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Pastor Kent Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Black Oak Cemetery.
Friends may visit after 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home.
