Dale Miller

Clarence “Dale” Miller, 84, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Dale was born May 17, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, a son of the late Clarence B. Miller and Beulah Mae (Hensley) Miller.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley Lewis Miller; his beloved daughter, Wendy Anzelc Miller (Gerard Edwards) of Germantown, Ohio; his sister, Rebecca “Beckie” Lucas and her husband, Bernie; his niece, Melissa (Bryan) Gamble; his nephews, Adam (Ria) Lucas-Megnin and Bradley (Maggie) Lucas; his great-nieces, Bella Gamble and Savannah Lucas; his great-nephew, Keagan Lucas; Sharon Sheaffer Miller Claflin, the mother of his daughter; along with the entire Lewis family and many other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Danielle Lucas Gayhart.

Dale was a graduate of Centerville High School and continued his education at the University of Dayton and Indiana State University. He dedicated his career to the Dayton Board of Education and retired as Assistant Treasurer of Dayton Public Schools.

Dale found great joy in horseback riding with his daughter, Wendy, on their beloved horse, Buddy Boy, especially competing in barrel races. He was also devoted to his cherished dogs, Brutus and Rusty. Dale enjoyed traveling to Englewood, Florida, and visiting their Florida family. For more than 35 years, he enjoyed caring for the family’s small farm, where he took pride in planting trees for future generations to enjoy. One of his greatest pleasures was making frequent trips to Kentucky to spend time with Shirley’s large and loving family.

Dale and Shirley attended Dayton First Church of the Nazarene for many years. The family extends special thanks to Pastor Stanley Ward for his visits, continuous support, and prayers.

The family also extends special thanks to the pulmonary unit at Miami Valley Hospital and Kindred Hospital for their care and compassion.

Services for Dale will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, at Kindred Funeral Home, 400 Union Boulevard, Englewood, Ohio. The family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

A second visitation will be held after 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel at Camp Dix. Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Terrell Webb officiating.

Burial will follow in Lewis Family Cemetery, KY 474, Scotts Branch Road, Vanceburg.
