Violet Myrtle Logan Jordan, 87, died Friday, October 16, 2026, at her home with her family at her bedside, under the care of Hospice of Hope.
Violet Myrtle Logan entered this world on Wednesday, July 5, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Awaiting her arrival were her father, Jeff Jee Logan; her mother, Snowa Mounts Logan; her brothers, Carl Robert, Harry J., Harold J., Ervin, and Randall; and her sister, Rose.
She grew up riding the bus all day for just five cents, going to movies, and enjoying rides aboard the Island Queen, a boat in Cincinnati.
While Violet was still a young girl, her family moved to Garrison, Kentucky. She graduated from Lewis County High School with the Class of 1957. She later worked at Williams Shoe Factory in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Somewhere along the way, she met her husband, William Ralph Jordan, whom she lovingly called Mousie Gray.
Their marriage was blessed with two children, a daughter, Barbara Ann (Tommy) Kerns, and a son, David (Jackie) Jordan.
She was thrilled when grandsons Joshua (Kim) Hughes and Brandon (Emily) Hughes came along. A little later, Amanda Rose, William Andrew, and David Aaron Parker Jordan arrived, rounding out the grandchildren.
Great-grandchildren Sophia Kate Hughes and Luke Hughes added even more blessings to her life.
Violet was a member of Trace Fork Christian Holiness Church, where she played the piano for many years. She had an excellent singing voice, and she, her husband Ralph, and their daughter Barbie were known as the Trace Fork Emergency Squad when they sang together.
Violet also played the harmonica and loved Christmas carols. She was the hit of every Christmas party in which she participated. She would memorize her lines word for word, then get a little nervous and deliver them the Violet way. She always added a bright note to the plays.
She also wrote beautiful, thoughtful poetry and enjoyed playing her harmonica at high school class reunions.
Violet especially loved shopping and visiting with her sister, Rose. The two were together almost every day, enjoying each other’s company and their outings. Rose died in 2021, but the memories of those years remained special. Until dementia affected her health, Violet was always ready to go.
Violet is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ralph Jordan; her daughter, Barbara Ann (Tommy) Kerns; her son, David (Jackie) Jordan; her grandchildren, Joshua (Kim) Hughes, Brandon (Emily) Hughes, Amanda Rose, William Andrew Jordan, and David Aaron Parker Jordan; her great-grandchildren, Sophia Kate Hughes and Luke Hughes; and extended family, church family, and friends.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Trace Fork Christian Holiness Church, with Pastor Terry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Jordan Cemetery at Vanceburg.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2026, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel, 103 Dudley Avenue, Garrison, and after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Trace Fork Christian Holiness Church on KY 1149.
Pallbearers will be Tim Jordan, Adam Cooper, Joshua Hughes, Brandon Hughes, David Aaron Parker Jordan, and Kenton Cooper.
Honorary pallbearers will be Amanda Jordan, William Andrew Jordan, Sophia Hughes, and Luke Hughes.
