Robert Howard Moore, 83, of Tollesboro, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville.
He was born on February 18, 1943, in Lewis County, a son of the late Clarence and Christina Toller Moore.
He will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful friend whose greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, hunting the outdoors he loved, telling stories and jokes that brought laughter to those around him, and encouraging others in their walk with Christ. He also enjoyed being a collector and had a special love for trading, finding joy in the friendships and conversations that came with it. He took immense pride in supporting the ministries of his family, faithfully praying for and encouraging both of his sons in their pastoral ministries while also cheering on his daughter as she used her God-given gift of singing to serve the Lord. Whether attending services, lending his support, or simply offering words of encouragement, he found great joy in seeing his children faithfully serve Christ.
A hardworking man, he spent more than 30 years as a self-employed brick mason, earning a reputation for quality craftsmanship, honesty, and a strong work ethic. Before starting his own business, he worked at Browning Manufacturing, where he began building the skills and character that would define his career.
His legacy is one of faith, dedication, hard work, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his impact will continue through the lives he touched and the family he cherished.
Robert is survived by one daughter, Lisa Garrison of Vanceburg; two sons, Kent (Michelle) Moore and Jeremy (Natalie) Moore of Maysville; three sisters, Lena Hughes of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Louise Thoroughman and Alma Thomas of Vanceburg; eight grandchildren, Alex (Geoffrey) Watt, Alicia (Adam) Becker, Holli (Jason) Bishop, Nick (Trista) Garrison, Ross (Jordyn) Garrison, Chase (Sydni) Garrison, Hudson Moore, and Maelynn Moore; and 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Noah, Fiona, Hadleigh, Isaiah, Eliza, Riley, Sunny Jo, Charlotte, Arthur, Raegan, and Rosie.
