Ronald Bloomfield

Ronald D. Bloomfield, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.

The youngest of 11 children, Ron was born on November 20, 1951, on the family farm in Lewis County, a son of the late Earnest and Ruby Pearl (Lewis) Bloomfield. After graduating from Olive Hill High School, Ron made his way to Bucyrus, Ohio, and was hired by The Timken Company.

He was drafted into the US Army for service in Vietnam and then returned to work at Timken, where coworkers knew him as “Hot Dog.” Ron studied business administration at North Central State and graduated in 1981. He retired from Timken after 34 years.

Ron will be remembered as a generous and kind patriot with a memorable laugh and genuine smile. He would drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need. A jack of all trades, there was no task too big for Ron to tackle.

Always active, he was an avid golfer and snow skier, and once did both activities on the same day. At home, Fox News was on the television and the radio. He loved his country fiercely and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Citizens to Patriots, and the John Birch Society. He found lots of treasures at flea markets and antique stores. Ron adored his grandchildren, whether throwing them into freshly raked leaves or visiting the family farm with them.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Keysha (Paul) Hinze; grandchildren, Trevor (Alandra) Gekler, Kylie Gekler, Blake Hinze, and Olivia Hinze; great-grandson, Anakin; his son, Wesley D. Bloomfield; his loving companion of 31 years, Joyce Dunn and her sons, Casey (Kasey) Gillen and Cory Gillen; sisters, Helen White and Marcella (Stan) Heydinger; and many extended family & friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Davis Pinkerton, Rosa King, Anna Mae McGlone, Jeaneva Robinson, and Janetta Hall, and brothers, Everett, Willard, and Raymond Bloomfield.

Services for Ron Bloomfield were Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with Pastor Rodney Noblit officiating.

A private burial will be on a later date in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites accorded by the US Army Honor Guard and Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions are encouraged to “Tunnels to Towers” and may be given at the funeral home. Memories and photos may be shared on the guestbook of Ron’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
