Sharon Cooper

Sharon Cooper, 75, of Vanceburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Kenton Pointe with her loving family at her side. Born February 18, 1951, to the late Lee Otis Cooper and Sarah Ellen McGlone Cooper, Sharon lived a life marked by creativity, compassion, and deep devotion to her family and faith.

She is survived by her son, Scotty Martin (Alisha) Cooper; her brother, Roger Lee (Dee) Cooper; grandchildren, Cody Garrett (Courtney) Lewis, Trevor Jared Lewis, Justice Martin Cooper, Sarah Beth Buckner, and Breanna Nicole Howard; and great-grandchildren, Charlee Jane Lewis, Jarod Keith Lewis, Chase Garrett Lewis, and Ryland Charles Lewis; nieces, Meranda (Wes) Dunn and Jenifer (Shug) Shoemaker; and close cousins, who were more like sisters to her, Rose Applegate and Freda Zornes.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved companion, Martin Junior Lewis; her daughter, Cindy Ellen Cooper Yavorcik; her sister, Lois Ann Cooper Jennings (Danny); and her nephew, Chad Lee Cooper.

Sharon dedicated 12.5 years to Bakers and 37.5 years to the Lewis County Board of Education, where she touched countless lives, with her kindness and steady presence. Outside of work, she poured her heart into her passions. She was the administrator of the Facebook group “Kentucky Wonders,” where she connected people through shared memories and community stories.

A gifted reader and writer, Sharon wrote plays, songs, poetry, and heartfelt tributes. Her creativity was a reflection of her spirit — thoughtful, expressive, and full of life. She shared her love of music as a member of the “Sounds of Victory” Gospel Group, singing alongside Terry, Brenda, and Adam Cooper, Rose Applegate, and Barb Lambert. Her faith was a guiding force, and she was a devoted member of Trace Fork Holiness Church. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) and Kenton Pointe of Maysville, for their compassionate care.

Sharon’s life was a tapestry of love, faith, family, and creativity. Her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who loved her, just as beautifully as the words she cherished:

“God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December.”

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Bro. Terry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery.

Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2026, until the service hour at the funeral home.

Dickerson Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Sharon Cooper.
