Ada Fay Claxon

Ada Fay Blankenship Claxon, 97, of Vanceburg, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Vanceburg Hills.

She was born in Lewis County on October 8, 1928, a daughter of the late James and Mae McVaney Blankenship.

Ada enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was well known for baking cream pies at Kenny’s Restaurant for over 40 years. Even in her nineties, she was baking pies for the Carter House. As much as she enjoyed baking the pies, she loved socializing with customers more. She was a fixture of both Kenny’s Restaurant and the Carter House.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley (Cary) Cagle of Vanceburg; a son, Kenneth (Jackie) Claxon of Vanceburg; four grandchildren, Roger (Erica) King, Robert (Cindy) King, Rachelle King, and Kent (Amanda) Claxon; seven great-grandchildren, Rowdy (Racey) King, Ryston (Maddie) King, Travis King, Tyler King, Tiana King, Colby Claxon, and John Ross Claxon; and four great-great-grandchildren, Ryland King Renleigh King, Hayden King, and Racelynn King. Many other family members and friends will sadly miss her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Clarence Claxon; a sister, Beulah Bellamy; and a brother, Ralph Blankenship.

Services will be at noon Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street in Vanceburg, with Bro. Bob Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow in Black Oak Cemetery.

Friends may visit after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Dickerson Funeral Home.
